I cannot believe I am a whole year behind on my blog. It is one of those things that I love to do but for some reason will only allow myself to do it when I have everything else in life done (i.e. laundry, dishes, clean house, clean and sleeping children). The trouble with waiting until you have everything done to do something you love to do is that you end up a year (or more) behind on the things you love to do! Having this blog has been so wonderful because when I finally take the time to scrapbook (it's been a good two years I think) I can always go back to the blog and look at what we were doing and be reminded of the fun times we have had. Well so much for that idea! Thank goodness for digital cameras that have the date on the picture for people like me who take a whole lot of pictures but take a little bit longer to do anything with them. But today is a new day and a new blog! My plan is to start now and move forward with the blog while still going backwards and trying to catch up. Please don't give up on me! When you come to check it out always remember to go back and check the archive's...I'll catch up...eventually!
Well here is a quick update on us: In December we moved from Cottage Grove, MN to Tyler, TX because I got a job as a teacher in the infant room at Trinity Lutheran ECM in Tyler. You can imagine how badly we wanted a change if we were willing to move 14oo miles away for a job changing poopy diapers! We figured Michael would find a job when we got there and this way we would just wait for me to get a divine call in a place that was a little closer to family. Michael's Dad is serving as the part-time pastor at a church in Kilgore, TX about 20 miles from Tyler. Michael's mom is still holding down the fort in Little Rock because she couldn't find a job in TX. AR is only four hours east of Tyler. Michael's brother and his family are in Dallas (two hours west) and my sister Stephani and her family are four hours south in Houston. We really felt like God was leading us to Texas but we didn't really know what He had in store for us!
We found a nice house to rent on Craig's List. The rentee is a pastor at a Presbyterian Church in Dallas. The house has some bright walls but all in all it is great for us! Trinity is just minutes from our house and we found out quickly that we were where God wanted us to be. After only three weeks as a teacher in the infant room I was offered the position of Assistant Director! It has been an awesome job that I never imagined I would enjoy! I have realized that my passion is really in children's ministry. Shortly there after Michael was offered a position at the church as the Director of Technology. It is right up his alley and he loves it! The girls go to school at Trinity and have made wonderful friends. We have now joined the church and are very involved in different ministry opportunities! I am doing children's messages about once a month (hopefully I will get to do it more often soon), I was asked to be on the Board of Children's Ministry and I get to help with VBS!
Micah and Taryn are doing great. Micah is 4 now and Taryn just turned 21 months yesterday! They are so much fun and learning and growing each day. Right now Micah loves to draw and do crafts (cutting, coloring, ect) and Taryn loves books! They both love to play with their babies, dress up, play outside, dance, sing, and laugh a whole lot!!!! They love life and remind us each day that we are blessed!
It is amazing how God has blessed this gigantic leap of faith! He has blown us away with the ideas he has come up with! We can't wait to see what he has coming next!
