Our Little Wind-Up Toy

For weeks Taryn has been trying so hard to move forward on her own. At first she rolled everywhere. She was really good at rolling but would end up under tables or beds or stuck in weird places. When she started moving forward slightly she would kick her legs like a fish and push off but then her arms couldn't keep up and she'd fall on her face. To compensate for her arms she would roll side to side and somehow move forward. When she added the arms it was like a soldier who had lost half of his arm. She was progressing at moving forward but she was putting so much effort into it with very little payoff. One time she army crawled all the way around the couch looking for Mommy or Daddy crying the whole time. Another time Taryn was with Mommy in the kitchen but Mommy left to get the phone. Shortly after Mommy saw Taryn's little head peeking around the corner moving, in her awkward way, towards her. As Taryn's arms got stronger she started getting up on all fours. She would rock back and forth for a little while until one of two things happened; her arms gave out or her big sister came over and "helped" her. But tonight, as Aimee was putting the girls to bed, it was like a little light bulb went off in Taryn' head and everything came together! She was across the room and all the sudden she wasn't! She had cruised over on all fours with no hesitation. The rest of the night she was on the go. She was like a little wind-up toy that just kept going and going!

The old way...

Her new way!
